Pregnancy Massage is useful from the beginning of the First Trimester to the end of the Third Trimester, and through out labor.  For those women looking for to use Pregnancy massage as a part of their health and birth care should begin as early as possible in your pregnancy.  Recommendations are that women come monthly up to the 8 month, and then twice a week for the last month of pregnancy.  Therapeutic Pregnancy massage helps with lower back, hip and pelvic pain or dysfunction, sciatic, leg cramps, and pregnancy induced or pre-existing musculoskeletal pain in the body.  Massage also helps increase circulation, reduce swelling, and encourage the release of stress and anxiety.
In my practice, Pregnancy Massage is preformed face down, with supporting cushions that help encourage baby to remain head down or turn into the head down position, which is most optimal for labor and delivery.  Side lying positioning is also available.

It is recommended  to schedule a series of Labor Preparation Massages that you can include a yoni steam and herbs that are great for preparing the body for labor.  Induction or Labor Prep Massages can begin at 37 weeks for a total of three (3) sessions right before your due date.
